How this calculator works

SBA-backed loans are repaid in equal monthly installments, so the standard amortization relationship applies.

Payment = P × i ÷ (1 − (1 + i)−n)

Total interest is payment × n − P. SBA programs often use longer terms than conventional business loans, which lowers the payment but raises the interest across the life of the loan.

Program rules, fees, and rates depend on the lender and the loan type, so enter your own rate and term.

Frequently asked questions

Does this include SBA guarantee fees?
No. It models principal and interest on the amount you enter. Fees depend on the program and the lender, so add them separately if you want a full cost picture.
Why can SBA terms be longer?
Longer terms lower the monthly payment for a business, though they raise the total interest. Enter the term your lender is offering.
What rate should I use?
The rate quoted in your own offer, or one you want to test. SBA-backed pricing depends on the lender and the program.
Can I use this for any business loan?
The payment math fits any fixed-rate installment loan. For non-SBA business financing, use the rate and term from that lender.
